SEPTEMBER 28, 2021: Former Everett Merchant pitcher Riley O’Brien, made his major league debut tonight pitching for the Cincinnati Reds against the Chicago White Sox. Riley started the game and pitched 1.1 innings allowing two hits and striking out a pair.

O’Brien spent two seasons at Everett Community College and was a member of the 2015 Merchants (1-1, 5.40 ERA). Following his career at EvCC he transferred to the College of Idaho where he became an All-NAIA West selection in his two seasons while leading the Yotes to the 2016 and 2017 NAIA National Championships.

This season with the Triple-A Louisville Bats, he had a 7-7 record with 122 strikeouts. In his last start, O’Brien tossed five innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against Toledo.

He is the 17th alumni of the Everett organization to play in the big leagues.

September 20, 2021 – Everett, WA: The Pacific International League today announced their all-league selection and the your Everett Merchants led the league with five representatives: Jordan Justice (OF), Jared Maxfield (P), Max Nealon (INF), Jaxsen Sweum (OF) and Riley Quinton (UTL). Cole Cramer (INF) and Charlie Wright (P) were named reserves.

Justice (Everett CC): Finished tied for second in the league in home runs (7) and stolen bases (15).  Was third in the league with 81 total bases and fourth in hitting (.354)

Maxfield (Indiana Tech):  Tied for second in the league in wins (3) and was fifth in the league in strikeouts (37) and ERA (3.18).  Led the league in starts (8)

Nealon (Pacific University): Appeared in all 33 games for the Merchants hitting .397 (38-128), raised his batting average 83 points over his previous season with the team.   Was fourth in the league in stolen bases (11). 

Sweum (Whitworth University):  Lead the league in extra base hits (25) and doubles (18) and finished second in the league in several offensive categories including average (.388), total bases (85) and hits (47).

Quinton (Arizona Christian): Played a key role for the Merchants both in the field and on the mound.  Played in 21 games as a position player and 9 on the mound where he was 2-1.  Had 2 of the leaguers complete games.

August 9, 2021 – Lincoln, CA: The Merchants completed pool play today with a loss to the Goldpanners. Four 4-team Double-Elimination Pool Play Brackets was to determine seeding for 16-team Single-Game Elimination Bracket for the Championship. 

Max Nealon went 3-4 with a double. Jordan Justice also doubled in the game and Cole Cramer had a triple. Justice and Jaxsen Sweum both had RBI’s.

Everett staffed the game using six different pitchers including Christian LaPierre, Jake Suyla, Aidan Hammersmark, Cole Cramer, Riley Quinton and Brody Ponti.

August 8, 2021 – Lincoln, CA: Despite trailing 7-1 through five innings to the MGF Utah Marshalls, the Merchants made a game out of it of it but their comeback came up short with a 7-5 loss. Everett had the game tying run at second base in the 9th inning but couldn’t tie it up. Neither team committed an error and the Merchants outhit the Marshalls 9-7.

Cleanup hitter, Jaxsen Sweum once again was the offensive star collecting three hits including a double and a 3-run homer run.  Through two games, Sweum has six hits in seven at bats with a walk and a hit by pitch.

Teddy Bishop had a pair of hits and an RBI. Ethan Rhodes added a double in his Merchant debut. Max Nealon, Jordan Justice and Riley Quinton the other hits.

The Merchants are now 1-1 in Pool Play and will face the Alaska Goldpanners on Monday morning.

If we defeat the Goldpanners we will play in the nightcap game.

August 7, 2021 – Lincoln, CA: The Merchants kicked of the first annual West Coast World Series with a familiar foe in the Alaska Goldpanners. The two teams had squared off six times earlier this summer in Alaska with the Goldpanners winning all six games but this time it was Everett who was victorious with a 9-8 win. The Merchants recorded 11 hits with eight different players had at least one hit.

With two outs in the second inning, Max Nealon singled to right field on a 2-2 count scoring Riley Quinton and Teddy Bishop for a 2-1 lead. With the game tied at 2-2 in the fifth inning, Cole Cramer tripled and then Jordan Justice walked to set up Jaxsen Sweum who doubled to deep center field to score two more runs off of Ian Torpey. A couple batters later Quinton also doubled to drive in two more runs for the 6-2 lead.

Making his first appearance for the Merchants, ex-professional, Stephen Boucher went 5.2 innings before being chased by the Panners who put up four runs in the sixth inning to tie the game up. Boucher struke out the side in the second and the fourth and at one point, he had retired 11 straight hitters.

Brody Ponti gave the Merchants the lead for good in the seventh inning launching a three run home run.

Devin Koester came out of the bullpen for the win.

July 31, 2021 – Seattle, WA:  The Everett Merchants today closed out their regular season with a 4-1 loss to the Seattle-Cheney Studs.  Next week the Merchants will travel to Lincoln, California to compete in the first ever West Coast World Series.

Everett got on the board first in the third inning, Jordan Justice’s sacrifice fly made the game 1-0.   Starter Jared Maxfield pitched the first three innings and did not allow a hit while lowering his ERA to 2.0.  Next up for the Merchants on the mound was Kenji Miller who also went three innings without allowing a run. 

The Merchants would remain in the league until the bottom of the eighth inning when Seattle would score four times thanks to a two-run double by Evan Scavatto and a two-run single by Jonas Kim. 

Everett only managed four hits in the game, two by Justice and the other two from Riley Quinton and Jackson Ramstead.

July 28, 2021 – Everett, WA: Congratulations to Andy Atwood (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) who has signed a professional contract with the Great Falls Voyagers of the independent Pioneer League. Andy appeared in 37 games with the Merchants in 2018 hitting .344. He returned to the team last week, after not being drafted, and went 4-11 in 3 games with a home run and a double.

This past season at UTRGV , Andy was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) First Team. Prior to going to UTRGV, he played two seasons at Oregon State.

During WAC play this year, Atwood hit .362/.439/.630 with eight home runs, eight doubles, one triple, 22 RBI, 31 runs scored and seven stolen bases. In 35 WAC games, he ranked second in the WAC in total bases (80), third in home runs and slugging percentage, tied for sixth in hits (46), ninth in runs scored, and 10^th in hitting and on-base percentage. Overall, he hit .341 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI on 70 hits.

He was also an All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament honoree, hitting .368 (7-19) with one home run, one triple, five RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base.

July 25, 2021 – Everett, WA: The Merchants moved to 2-0 on the season against Driveline Select with a 8-1 victory on Sunday in the team’s final home game of the year. Wanting to rest pitching, the Merchants threw four position players with Max Nealon earning the victory. Everett pounded out eight hits and took advantage of three Driveline errors to win their fourth straight game.

Everett jumped on Driveline starter Connor Rooney, for four runs in the first inning. Jaxsen Sweum doubled home Max Nealon for the first run of the game. Andy Atwood followed with a single to score and then Brody Ponti doubled to make it 3-0. Merchants would add on one more run that inning on an error.

Cole Cramer worked out of a jam in the first inning and settled down going 4.2 innings without surrendering a hit.

The Merchants add to their score with a four run seventh inning with the middle of the lineup once again producing. Jordan Justice had an RBI double, Sweum drove in a pair of runs with a single and then Ponti had his second RBI double of the game.

Richard Higa homered in the eight inning off of Sweum for Driveline’s lone score.

July 24, 2021 – Seattle, WA: With the two-game sweep of the Highline Bears the Merchants improve to 12-6 in league play, trailing the Seattle-Cheney Studs by just one game.

Riley Quinton pitched his second straight complete game as the Merchants took game one 6-3. He scattered six hits in the game while striking out five while not walking anyone.

The Merchants flexed their power early in the game. Jordan Justice gave Everett a 1-0 lead in the first with a solo home run. Andy Atwood and Aiden Van Rensum went back-to-back in the second to extend the lead to 3-1. Atwood making his 2021 debut finished the game with three hits.

Pitching was the name of the second game as both teams received solid pitching. Aidan Hammersmark, making his first start of the season, kept the Bears hitters off balance allowing only two hits and no runs in 4.0 innings of work as the Merchants took the second game 2-0. It was his longest outing in two years and was reward with the win.

The Merchants first run came on a pass ball in the fourth inning and the second run was scored on a bases loaded walk.

Cole Cramer and Austin Ohland both had two hits.

As good as Hammersmark was, Shane Melrose was almost as good going three innings of two hit ball for the save.

July 23, 2021 – Everett, WA: Once again, the Merchants came from behind for a victory.  Trailing 4-3, Everett scored five times in the bottom of the eight for a 8-5 win over the Redmond Dudes.  Jake Suyla worked the final three innings of the game to earn his first win of the season.  

In the eighth inning, Jackson Sweum doubled in Brody Ponto and then Sweum scored the go ahead run on a Jordan Justice doubled.  Austin Ohland followed that up with a single to left field.  Max Nealon finished the scoring by hitting a two-run triple. 

Justice and Ohland both had three hits in the game.  

With the win, the Merchants are now 10-6 in league play (13-13 overall). Everett will play a double header on Saturday at the Highline Bears (no fans allowed – but the games will be broadcasted on the Merchants YouTube page) and then will finish up their 2021 home schedule on Sunday with a non-league game against Driveline Baseball at 1:05 PM.

July 22, 2021 – Everett, WA: The Merchants will be traveling to Lincoln, California to participate in the West Coast World Series from August 7 to 13. As you can imagine flights for 25 players plus coaching staff, hotels, meals and rental vehicles add up quickly. July 18, 2021 – Bellevue, WA:  Riley Quinton pitched a complete game shutout today against the Northwest Honkers. He allowed only four hits and had 10 strikeouts while walking only one. 69 of his 95 pitches were for strikes.

Catcher Cam Keller got the Merchants on the board in the second inning with a sun double scoring Jordan Mello for a 1-0 lead.

Everett would put two more runs on the board in the seventh inning. Austin Ohland doubled to score Brody Ponti and then Mello had an RBI ground out to make it 3-0.

Cole Cramer was 3-5 and Jaxsen Swuem was 2-3 with a pair of walks.

Everett returns to Funko Field on Monday with a 7:05 first pitch game against the Seattle-Cheney Studs.

July 17, 2021 – Seattle, WA: After following behind early, the Merchants grinded away and earned an 8-5 win over the Highline Bears on Saturday night at Mel Olson Stadium. Everett scored a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning before exploding for four runs in the eight inning. Jordan Justice’s sixth home run of the year in the top of the ninth inning put the game out of reach.

Kenji Miller replaced the Merchants opener Jake Sulya in the third inning and got the win (2-1)n while Cramer earned his first save.

The Merchants outfielder set a season high with three outfield assists (Ethan Dosh 1, Jaxsen Sweum 2).

The win was the Merchants are now 11-11 overall and 8-4 in league.

July 13, 2021 – Edmonds, WA: Trailing 2-0 early in the game the Merchants came back for a 10-4 victory against Rush Baseball. Starter Charlie Wright had 8 strikeouts in 6.0 innings to earn his third victory of the season. Trailing 2-1, the Merchants scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and never looked back.

Cole Cramer continued his hot hitting with a double, a triple and four RBI. Cam Keller had a two-run double and Jaxsen Sweum also had a pair of RBI’s in the game. Riley Quinton was 2-3.

9 of the 12 position players that appeared in the game for the Merchants had at least on hit. Everett also stole 5 bases. The Merchants have now won four games in a row and will return to league play on Saturday at the Highline Bears.

July 11, 2021 – Everett, WA: Strong defensive play, excellent pitching and strong hitting today helped the Merchants defeated Driveline Select 11-1 in a non-league game.  Everett have now won three games in a row.

Ethan Doshi and Jaxsen Sweum each had a pair of doubles.  Brody Ponti and Aidan Van Rensum also each had a pair of hits.  Sweum and Van Rensum each had a pair of RBI’s.

Jared Maxfield scattered four hits over 6.0 innings and allowed only one run.  Aiden Hammersmark, Dylan Matsouka and Shane Melrose each pithed a scoreless inning.  

Defensively, the Merchants didn’t commit an error. The Merchants are still in second place in the PIL with a 7-4 record in league games and 9-11 overall.

July 10, 2021 – Everett, WA: The Merchants completed an 8-6 comeback victory on Saturday at Funko Field thanks to a two-run walk off home run by Jordan Justice in the bottom of the 10^th inning over TKB Baseball. The home run was Justice’s second of the game.

Trailing by one run in the tenth inning, Aidan Van Rensum scored to tie the game at 6-6 on a TKB throwing error on a Jordan Mello bunt attempt. Setting up Justice’s game winning home run with two outs.

TKB Baseball scored unearned runs in the first inning for an early lead. Jaxsen Sweum had an RBI single in the Merchants half of the inning. In sixth inning the Merchants bats got going as the scored two more times thanks to a RBI double by Brody Ponti and Ethan Doshi was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Trailing by one run with two outs in the 9^th inning, Ponti sent the game into extra innings with a home run to left field.

The Merchants pounded out 13 hits, with seven different players getting at least one hit. Sweum had three hits including two doubles. Doshi also had three hits in his return from the DL.

Kenji Miller made his third start of the season (fourth appearance overall) went 6.2 with no earned runs.  Shane Melrose got the win.  None of TKB Baseball’s runs were earned.

The Merchants will be back in action on Sunday with a single game against Driveline Collegiate, first pitch scheduled for 1:05

July 6, 2021 – Everett, WA: Charlie Wright was masterful tonight allowing only one earned run in 7.0 innings of work to earn his second win of the season as the Merchants defeated the Honkers 6-4 .

Everett jumped on the Honkers starter Tanner Boe in the first inning as Jaxsen Sweum hit a two-run home run for the early lead.   Jordan Justice got in on the home run trend launching a two-run shot of his own in the third inning after the Honkers had tied it up in their half of the inning.

The Merchants would take the lead for good in the fifth inning as Justice doubled home Max Nealon. Justice would then steal home on the back end of a double steal to make it 6-2. 

Justice finished the game 2-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases. He currently leads the PIL with 10 stolen bases and is fourth in the league with a .347 average.

Eumir Sepulveda earned the save pitching the last two innings.   Everett is now 7-4 in league play, good enough for second place.

JULY 6, 2021 – Everett, WA: Wednesday’s game against TKB Baseball, out of the Bay Area, has been cancelled to due travel / schedule conflicts.   The game will not be made up.

July 2, 2021 – Bellevue, WA: Brody Ponti went 3-4 with a home run and 3 RBI as the Merchants got back on the winning end of a ballgame, defeating the Northwest Honkers 10-1 on Thursday night.   Seven different Merchants had at least one hit while Jared Maxfield lowered his ERA to 1.71 as he only allowed one over 6.0 innings of work.,

The Merchants are off now until July 5^th when they host the Seattle Studs at 7:05

The Everett Merchants are excited to announce the date and time for their 2021 FREE baseball camp. Boys and girls ages 7 to 12 years old are invited to participate in our annual Everett Merchant FREE baseball clinic at Funko Field on July 10 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.  The three-hour camp is dedicated to the development of young aspiring baseball players and is open to all participants regardless of experience or ability.  The camp will include discussions, demonstrations, and drills on different phases of the game, including proper offensive techniques for hitting, bunting and base running, and defensive techniques.

Each participant will have the opportunity to learn and practice the fundamentals from the Merchants.  Campers will need a glove and those who have baseball bats and shoes are encouraged to bring them.

June 26, 2021 – Everett, WA: Due to the extreme heat warning issued by the state of Washington for Sunday, the Everett Merchants and the Highline Bears have cancelled their scheduled double header.

The makeup games have been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on July 17 and July 24 at Highline. More details to follow.

June 22, 2021 – Fairbanks, AK: Tonight Everett CC’s Kenji Miller took the mound in game three of the Merchants six game series against the Goldpanners. Kenji allowed only two earned runs will striking out seven batters over 5.0 innings but that wasn’t enough at the Merchants fell 8-3.

The Merchants finally got on the board in the sixth inning, following the ejection of Goldpanners starting pitcher Javyn Pimental for the use of an illegal substance, with a pair of runs. Brody Ponti tripled down the right field line to score Max Nealon then Cole Cramer followed up with an RBI ground out. Nealon had a pair of hits in the game.

Dylan Matsuoka made his first appearance on the mound to finish the game off. He did not allow a hit over 1.1 innings

June 21, 2021 – Fairbanks, AK: For the second straight night, the Merchants and the Goldpanners had a pitching dual in the 116^th Midnight Sun Game, which the Goldpanners took 3-0.    Jared Maxwell started the game and allowed only two runs (both earned) over five innings.  He only walked one while striking out seven. Goldpanners starter, German Fajado scattered two hits over seven innings while striking out nine.  The Merchants threatened several times but several hard-hit balls turned into double players.

Defensively the Merchant fans saw some outstanding defensive plays from Ethan Doshi, Cole Cramer and Jaxsen Sweum. 

Cramer led all Merchants with two hits while Doshi, Max Nealon and Sweum all having singles.

June 16, 2021 – Everett, WA: The Everett Merchants rebounded from Monday’s night loss with a 11-1 victory over the Redmond Dudes. The Merchants pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of four errors by the Dudes. Charlie Wright was masterful on the mound allowing only one hit through 7.1 innings of work for his first win of the season and second quality start in two appearances.

Jordan Justice continued his hot hitting going 5-5 to raise his average to .467 on the season. Over the past two games he is 9-10. He also homered for the second time this year and scored four runs. Brody Ponti hit a grand slam and drove in 6 runs while Jaxsen Sweum had three hits including a triple.

Everett is now 5-2 and will finish up the homestand on Thursday night with a 7:05 game against the Highline Bears before departing to Alaska.

June 12, 2021 – Tacoma, WA: The Merchants finished off a strong week on Saturday sweeping the Seattle-Cheney Studs 9-5 and 7-5.  Everett is now 5-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in league play.

In the first game, Kenji Miller (Everett CC) picked up the win in his Merchant debut going 5.0 innings.  Bryce Lindberg (Bellevue College) had a strong overall game collecting a pair of hits and having an outfield assist.  Riley Quinton (Arizona Christian) also had a pair of hits while driving in three.  All 10 Merchant hitters had at least one hit and Jordan Justice (Everett CC) hit his first home run of the summer. 

In Game Two, the Merchants held on for a 7-5 victory.  Calvin Kirchoff (Bellevue College) got that start and went a strong 6.0 innings for the win.  Everett exploded for a six runs in the sixth inning and the Merchants turned the game over to Jake Suyla (Olympic College) who came in for the 3.0 inning save.  Jaxsen Sweum (Whitworth) had a pair of doubles while Max Nealon (Pacific University) and Cole Cramer (Linn-Benton) each had a pair of hits. 

Everett has three home games this coming week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) at Funko Field before heading up to Alaska for six games. As a reminder that fans are allowed at Funko Field and to please use the north entrance of the stadium.

June 9, 2021 – Bellevue, WA: When a team gets strong pitching and hot hitting, they are hard to beat. On Wednesday night, the Merchants came to play as the moved to 2-0 in league play with a 16-1 win over the Northwest Honkers at Bellevue College. The Merchants pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of six Honker errors. Eight different Everett hitters had at least one hit.

Jackson Sweum and Max Nealon continued their hot hitting. Sweum launched his third home run of the season and drove in six runs. In three games he now has 13 RBI’s. Nealon had three hits, and scored four times, to raise his batting average to .500 on the season.

Eumir Sepulveda got the start and went 3.0 innings and Cole Cramer picked up the win in his Merchant debut on the mound striking out 10 batters over 4.0 innings allowing just one hit.

June 7, 2021 – Redmond, WA:  Right fielder Jaxsen Sweum led the Merchants offensive attack tonight going 4-5, with two home runs and seven RBI as the Everett defeated the Redmond Dudes 10-1 in the season opener. Everett pounded out 12 hits while the pitching staff didn’t walk a batter.

Everett received a strong starting performance from Jered Maxfield who struck out seven and scattered two hits over 5.0 innings of work. 

Ethan Doshi, Max Nealon and Jordan Justice each had multiple hits.  Doshi also had four stolen bases.

For the first time in nearly 20 months, the Everett Merchants will finally get to take the field on Monday, June 7^th,  as they kick off their 2021 season with a league game against the Redmond Dudes with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 at Hartman Park.  

The Merchies will also play a non-league game on Tuesday against Next Level Baseball, a U-18 showcase team with several D-1 commitments, at Heritage Park.

 Everett will then return to league play against the Northwest Honkers at 6:05 on Wednesday at Bellevue College and then will travel to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma on Saturday for a double header against the Seattle-Cheney Studs.  First game is scheduled for 1:05 PM.

May 30, 2020 – Everett, WA: Cole Cramer (Arlington High School) was selected to the Everett Herald’s All-Area team after batting .488 with two home runs, two triples, six doubles, a .529 on-base percentage and a .878 slugging percentage. He was a perfect 7-for-7 on stolen-base attempts and had a .970 fielding percentage.

He also posted a 0.00 ERA in 8 1/3 innings pitched, with 15 strikeouts and no walks. He helped lead the Eagles to a 12-1 record.

May 28, 2021 – Everett, WA: Austin Ohland (Central Washington University) was recently named the Freshman of the Year in the GNAC, first team all league selection and was a NCBWA All-Region second team selection.

Ohland closed out the regular season with a .356 average alongside twenty-four RBI’s and twenty runs. He also hit ten doubles and four home runs this year. His ten doubles tied him for sixth in the GNAC this season. Ohland also landed himself the ninth spot in the GNAC conference with a slugging percentage of .611 and tenth in the GNAC for on base percentage at .446. Defensively, he posted a .982 fielding percentage with only three errors all season.

Austin will be in his first summer with the Merchants.

MAY 27, 2021 – Everett, WA: Jaxsen Sweum has been named first team All-Northwest Conference for his performance this season at Whitworth University. 

Sweum batted .346 during the regular season and led the Pirates in home runs (10) and runs batted in (43).  He also led the team in slugging average (.639) while starting all season in right field.  He was one of two Pirate players to appear in all 39 games.

May 26, 2021 – Everett, WA: RHP Jared Maxfield (Lynnwood, WA) has been named to the WHAC All-Academic team.  Jared is a mechanical engineering major at Indiana Tech and will be returning for his second season with the Merchants.

This year for the Warriors, he was 3-0 with a 3.47 ERA appearing in 14 games (second most on the staff).  He struck out 42 batters while only walking 7.

April 27, 2021 – EVERETT, WA: We are excited to announce that we have released our 2021 schedule. We will kick off the season on Monday, June 7th against the Redmond Dudes with our home opener schedule for Monday June 14th against the Northwest Honkers. In addition to traveling to Alaska (June 20-25) to participate in the 2021 Midnight Sun game we will also be attending the West Coast World Series (August 7-13) in Lincoln, CA.

NOVEMBER 13, 2020 – Everett, WA: Today the Everett Merchants announced that they will be making their third trip to Alaska to take on the Alaska Goldpanners and will play in the 116th annual Midnight Sun Game in 2021. They were schedule to participate in the 2020 game but due to COVID-19, the season was cancelled. 

In total, the Merchants will play 6 games in Alaska from June 20-25th.  With the Midnight Sun Game taking place on the 21st. 

The Midnight Sun Game is one of the most iconic events in all of baseball. Baseball America has declared the game one of the “10 Must-See Baseball where as ESPN The Magazine called the event the “#8 Ultimate Baseball Experience Events.

The game is played every summer solstice at historic Growden Memorial Park in Fairbanks, Alaska. Because the sun is out for almost 24 hours a day, the game starts at about 10:30 at night and completes around 1:30 the next morning. However, because Fairbanks’s summer time zone differs by about an hour from local solar time, coupled with the state’s observance of daylight saving time, the game may not actually last until solar midnight, at about 1:53.

amous players who have appeared in the game include Tom Seaver, Dave Winfield, Barry Bonds, Bob Boone, Brett Boone, Terry Francona, Harold Reynolds, Jason Giambi, and Bill “Spaceman” Lee.

The first game was in 1906. Artificial light has never been used. The sun does dip below the horizon for about an hour. Since 1960, the game has been hosted by the Alaska Baseball League’s Fairbanks-based Alaska Goldpanners.

“This is one of the most iconic events in amateur baseball, and a tremendous opportunity to participate in the game.  It’s something that our players and coaching staff will never forget,” said Merchants coach Mike MacCulloch.

The Merchants previously played in the MidNight sun game back in 2012 falling 7-5 to the Panners.

Team travel dates have yet to be announced.

October 25,2020 – Everett, WA: The Everett Merchants are proud to announce that Josh Berry has been named pitching coach.  

Josh will replace pitching coach Brandon Mahovlich who had to step down from the staff due to work commitments. He is very familiar with the Pacific International League having played for the Seattle-Cheney Studs beginning in 2003.  Following the 2005 season, he signed with the Ohio Valley Redcoats (Frontier League) where he had a 3.18 ERA in five games.

After being released from pro ball, he would return to the Studs and go onto win two NBC World Series championships before retiring as a player at the age of 33. During his time with the Studs, he also signed professional contracts three more times in his but each time he required arm surgery before reporting to the teams.   

Josh graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1999, where he was a teammate of Merchants hitting coach Beau Blacken. During high school, he made the All-WesCo team twice, and was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 25th round after playing just one game his senior year due to injury.  

He was the pitching coach at Lake Stevens High School from 2007 to 2009 and then spent three seasons as a player/coach with the Studs.  He was also the head coach of the 16U Club Nine baseball and most recently was the pitching coordinate for Aces Baseball Club.
