Justice Hits Walk Off-Home Run

July 10, 2021 – Everett, WA: The Merchants completed an 8-6 comeback victory on Saturday at Funko Field thanks to a two-run walk off home run by Jordan Justice in the bottom of the 10th inning over TKB Baseball. The home run was Justice’s second of the game.
Trailing by one run in the tenth inning, Aidan Van Rensum scored to tie the game at 6-6 on a TKB throwing error on a Jordan Mello bunt attempt. Setting up Justice’s game winning home run with two outs.
TKB Baseball scored unearned runs in the first inning for an early lead. Jaxsen Sweum had an RBI single in the Merchants half of the inning. In sixth inning the Merchants bats got going as the scored two more times thanks to a RBI double by Brody Ponti and Ethan Doshi was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Trailing by one run with two outs in the 9th inning, Ponti sent the game into extra innings with a home run to left field.
The Merchants pounded out 13 hits, with seven different players getting at least one hit. Sweum had three hits including two doubles. Doshi also had three hits in his return from the DL.
Kenji Miller made his third start of the season (fourth appearance overall) went 6.2 with no earned runs. Shane Melrose got the win. None of TKB Baseball’s runs were earned.
The Merchants will be back in action on Sunday with a single game against Driveline Collegiate, first pitch scheduled for 1:05
