Merchants Defeat Honkers

July 6, 2021 – Everett, WA: Charlie Wright was masterful tonight allowing only one earned run in 7.0 innings of work to earn his second win of the season as the Merchants defeated the Honkers 6-4 .
Everett jumped on the Honkers starter Tanner Boe in the first inning as Jaxsen Sweum hit a two-run home run for the early lead. Jordan Justice got in on the home run trend launching a two-run shot of his own in the third inning after the Honkers had tied it up in their half of the inning.
The Merchants would take the lead for good in the fifth inning as Justice doubled home Max Nealon. Justice would then steal home on the back end of a double steal to make it 6-2.
Justice finished the game 2-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases. He currently leads the PIL with 10 stolen bases and is fourth in the league with a .347 average.
Eumir Sepulveda earned the save pitching the last two innings. Everett is now 7-4 in league play, good enough for second place.
