May 28, 2021 – Everett, WA: Austin Ohland (Central Washington University) was recently named the Freshman of the Year in the GNAC, first team all league selection and was a NCBWA All-Region second team selection.

Ohland closed out the regular season with a .356 average alongside twenty-four RBI’s and twenty runs. He also hit ten doubles and four home runs this year. His ten doubles tied him for sixth in the GNAC this season. Ohland also landed himself the ninth spot in the GNAC conference with a slugging percentage of .611 and tenth in the GNAC for on base percentage at .446. Defensively, he posted a .982 fielding percentage with only three errors all season.

Austin will be in his first summer with the Merchants.
